Why is our service so important?

Let some 2015 PMDoS volunteers answer that!

“It gave my day a sense of purpose.”

“It is such a good feeling to focus on others.”

“It’s a GRRREAT thing to do!”

“This Day of Service is inspiring, fun, and productive.”

"I would tell any company looking to get involved, “Hop aboard now! This philanthropic ride is just getting started!"

Here is another example of what you can help to achieve:

Name: Gabriela Cadena, PMP, CERT, ALB/ACB

Occupation:  Contractor, National Institute for Health and Welfare

Motivation:  As a Cornellian and a Cornell Tradition Fellow, I follow Cornell University’s founding principle that “anyone can study anything” and so I feel a strong connection to the Project Management Day of Service (PMDoS). I always look for ways to give back to society.

PMDoS 2015 Experience:  Working with the PMDoS PMO team, I’ve met and deepened my relationships with many fellow Project Managers. I will expand this experience on January 18, 2016, with hundreds of fellow project managers reaching out to help 100 nonprofits. Together, we’ll work to solve problems hindering these groups as they help others!

Favorite Quote:  Don Kingsberry of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, recently reminded me of the African Proverb:  "If you want to walk fast, walk alone, if you want to walk far, walk together!”

Future Plans:
I am going to Cape Town, South Africa soon, which will be the fulfillment of one of my bucket list items because I want to get some Mandela Magic – to walk where he did on Robbens Island, and where he was held for 27 years.  PMDoS is a way to impact our local communities, here and now.  Mandela helped end apartheid.  What will we accomplish?  How many lives will we touch?
