100 Charities Receive Pro Bono Project Management Services

Thanks to Five PMI Chapters and the Taproot Foundation

Hundreds of volunteers help serve those who serve others

Why:     Often faced with tight budgets and limited resources, many nonprofits are in need of professional help in defining and scoping projects and overall strategy development. During the Project Management Day of Service, hundreds of dedicated volunteers will have the opportunity to give back to their community by donating their time and specific project management expertise to the organizations that are doing so much to improve the quality of life for individuals in and around the D.C. metro area.

What:    The Project Management Day of Service is a community outreach event of unprecedented scale providing pro bono Project Management services to 200 nonprofits on Martin Luther King Day - a national day of service.  For the first time ever, nonprofits will receive pro bono project management services by Project Management Institute (PMI) project management professionals to help scope out critical problems. PMI volunteers will work to donate their time and attention to serve those who help others. It’s like winning the project management lottery!

Who:     More than 300 project management volunteers will run the event from the five Washington D.C. area chapters of PMI (representing more than 18,000 chapter members), in partnership with the Taproot Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that makes pro bono business talent available to organizations working to improve society. Nonprofits attending the special event provide a wide range of resources and services to improve the lives of seniors, children, the homeless and the jobless.

When:     Monday, January 19, 2015

Project management sessions will take place from 8 AM to 5 PM
